Birth
Birth Sessions have my complete heart. I am the most well rounded experienced birth photographer in the Wiregrass area. Your investment includes being on call all day/night from 38 weeks to 42 weeks, all communication/consultation, from active labor (7cm dilated), up to one hour after birth, your birth Video and 75 digital images via Dropbox.
Birth Pricing Details:
- A non refundable deposit of half down plus tax is required with your signed contract. At our appointment we will go over the contract, discuss your birth plans, ask/answer questions and just get to know each other and make sure I am a good fit for your photography needs. The remaining balance is due two months before your due date.
- I remain at your birth for approximately 1 hour post partum, or until the newborn exam is complete.
- I do video as well as photograph. I capture things such as you contracting on video, as well as after the baby is earthside, I capture the sweet little new cry, and reactions from parents. You will have the option to purchase a birth DVD for an additional $100.
- The starting base birth fee is $999 plus 9% tax. This fee only includes your birth video I make (we will discuss this when we meet), and 75 images in black and white. If we do have more images, a full online gallery will be uploaded for you to select your digital images, however you will be able to upgrade to all files.
- My clients do like to add on a 10x10 album as that is the perfect way to display their birth images. This album pre-purchased is $599, however after your birth, it is at regular price of $699. If you upgrade to this option, you will receive all files.
- If you wish to have color files, there is a $150 color conversion fee.
- Anything from your birth is share worthy, and unless I'm given permission, it is very rare that I share "that" moment. However, if you wish to not have any aspect of your birth shared, there is a $300 privacy fee.
Additional FAQS
- Your birth includes me being there for the amount it takes from active labor, to up to two hours baby has arrived. This can be 4 hours or this can be 30.
- If your birth does not go as planned, and you end up with a C-Section, it is up to YOU to clear with your birth team that I am allowed in the OR. Currently, Medical Center does allow Birth Photographers in the OR however Flowers does not. I do require signed permission upfront and this is something we will discuss at your consultation.
- If you and your spouse need me to step out for some privacy, I do respect that, we can come up with a code word if you like, or just a simple "Please give us a minute" would be perfectly fine.
- I try to not shoot with Flash. It can be loud and disturbing. However, I do require a light source, I prefer natural window light and then a light in the room to be on. In the event you give birth at night, I will try my best to shoot with no flash, just know when I shoot in low light, my camera handles it very well, but it does give it a "grain" affect, which is natural in this type of photography.
- A model release is part of the contract with births. I shoot very modestly, and I never share something that is not modest. I do blog and share portraits from each birth. However, I offer a 100% privacy add-on fee of $300. Please keep in mind that there is always something share worthy, even if it doesn’t include”that moment”. I am very respectful of keeping my shares modest and you have a final say in anything portrayed on my site, blog or business page.
- As soon as you are in labor, please contact me and please keep me updated. I HIGHLY recommend hiring a Doula (Mamas Friend Birth Services, website is https://www.mamasfriend.com), as not only will they help guide you through an amazing birth, but they take control of all contact with me, so therefore you get to enjoy your birth without any worry! We have worked several births together and our effort and workflow are seamless!
- In the event that you have an emergency c-section, and I am not allowed in, I will photograph everything that will come after baby is out. We will still get all the newborn exam pictures and so forth. I highly recommend having this written in your back up birth plan, and you go ahead and receive written permission. Depending on how long I have been with you during your birth, if you do not exceed your paid for time limit, a credit will be reserved towards your order for you.
- I do not sneak peek images on Facebook until your images have been viewed and ordered from. I do give little "glimpse" on my Instagram stories!
- If scheduling your newborn with your birth, you will come and view your images up to two weeks after your newborn session is complete. Most clients typically put all images in a large Heirloom Album, and order wall art from the actual portrait session.
- In the event that you do not wish to pursue with birth photography, I do not offer any refunds on the deposit (this will be written in your contract), you may however use the fee towards your newborn session.
Scheduled C-Section Details
- I only schedule C-Sections at Southeast Health (I will not take on one at Flowers due to the fact they don't allow birth photographers in the OR).
- I am there 30 minutes prior to the time they set for you C-Section. I stay all the way until after newborn procedures have been done (typical 3-4 hour time range).
- The fee for this is $699 plus 9% tax. This includes me coming in prior, going back and photographing the whole birth, along with video as well, editing of the portraits, video, and up to 50 digital images. You have the option of additional add on sessions at a discounted rate ($100 off per full session, and $50 off per Simply session).
- A non-refundable deposit of half down is due to schedule your induction date. The remaining is due two weeks prior.
- As with my regular birth policy, all of my birth FAQ's do coincide with my Scheduled C-Sections.
